The complete print files for the birdhouse mesh repeater – free. Three parts: base (birdhouse/nest box body, 120 × 120 × 150 mm, entrance hole Ø 30 mm), intermediate floor (tech carrier, separates brood chamber and electronics) and roof (with integrated antenna carrier: guide grooves for four radials, ridge feed-through for the radiator, cutouts for the roof solar panels).
📖 The detailed assembly guide with all build steps is available in the shop – from slicer settings to antenna build to tree mounting.
Color decides the use case
- Light colors (light grey, cream, green): suitable as a real nest box – entrance hole Ø 30 mm for blue tits, coal tits & co., the brood chamber stays completely free of electronics.
- Black (stealth): the solar panels visually disappear almost completely – but a black enclosure gets too hot inside for a brood in the summer sun. Therefore: permanently close the entrance hole or fill the brood chamber with rot-proof material. The MR2's temperature sensor lets you keep an eye on the interior temperature via telemetry.
Print recommendation
- Any filament – make sure it is weather- and UV-resistant
- Enable automatic supports (the model has a number of overhangs) and additionally paint on supports at the top edges of the solar panel cutouts – details with screenshots in the assembly guide
- Optional fuzzy skin on the outer surfaces – takes longer but looks noticeably higher-quality (point distance 0.8 mm, thickness 0.3 mm)
- Print the base upright – the horizontal print layers double as a climbing aid for fledglings inside
Matching electronics
The matching kit with MR2, three solar panels, battery protection module (BMS) and tuned 868 MHz antenna set is available separately in the shop.
